Our Team

Steve Deaton, CCIM

Steve grew up in Southern Pines, NC, where he graduated from Pinecrest High School. He attended NC State, graduating with honors in 1979 from the School of Design. In 1981, Steve founded Deaton Investment Real Estate to focus primarily on the brokerage of multi-family property.

Steve's tenure in the industry and involvement in more than 1,200 transactions enables him to provide customers with unmatched insight into local and national real estate trends. Many of the systems and marketing initiatives he created upon founding the company remain intact today, ensuring every customer, whether buyer or seller, receives comprehensive attention and above all else, a smooth, profitable transaction.

Steve's many years of experience give him an in-depth and objective understanding of investment real estate and it's financial benefits. He has held leadership roles and served on the boards of several Triangle business organizations. Steve lives in Raleigh with his wife and two sons.

"T" (short for Thomas) has always called the Triangle of North Carolina home. Born and raised in northern Durham, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Duke University in 2003.

Upon graduation, T. entered the property management field, where he managed a 250-unit property for a national leader in the multi-family industry. Continuing in real estate, T. moved on to work in real estate advertising for a Raleigh-based marketing company, learning the nuances of local industry trends and how real estate impacts the general business community. Through these experiences, T. developed a strong knowledge of the Triangle real estate market and joined Deaton Investment Real Estate in April, 2006.

At Deaton, T. handles general brokerage duties, working with sellers to market their properties for sale and consults investors on buying decisions. T. is the President of the Wake County Apartment Association, a professional organization formed for the public advocacy and resource sharing of regional owners of multi-family property. T. lives in Raleigh with his wife and their son, Ty.
